The fall is here! How I realized it? Well, the last two weeks I was busy with sneeeing, coughing and having fever. But now I'm prepared and ready for the cold weather!

After the worst of the cold was over, I haven't been totally lazy, but have pimped a shirt. Recently I have dicovered the Kanzashi flowers and had to try that again.

Was ich dazu brauchte?
What it required? A new and an old shirt, with fabric coverable buttons, yarn and a needle. Nothing more :o)

I have cut the old shirt in different sized circles (2, 2.5 and 3.5cm in diameter). Per flower I had to cut 5 pieces.

Then I have foldet each circle twice until only a small triangle was left. Then I have put the triangle on the yarn, followed by the second, third, fourth and fifth one. When all five are on the yarn, the flower can be sewn togehter.

In total I have made 3 large flowers with 3.5cm diameter, 3 with 2.5cm and 2 with 2cm diameter. Then I have placed the flowers around the neckline of the new shirt. To fix them, I have put a with the same fabric covered button in the middle hole of the flower and have sewn it from the left side of the shirt. I have also fixated the leaves a little with single stitches.

I think it took only a little effort to up grade a shirt which looks now more expensive and fashionable and that with only a few flowers...

A long long time ago, I have started buying cook books, but I have never tried any of the recipes. But I have started it a while ago and call it "Mission Cookbook".

Hier ein Beispiel aus dem Buch "Funky Kitchen Club", dem Buch zu der Kochsendung im Schweizer Fenster von Pro Sieben.
Following below is an example from the book "Funky Kitchen Club", a book belonging to the tv show in the swiss window on ProSieben.

For my boyfriend is vegetarian it wasn't easy to find something in that book, because the most recipe are loaded with meat. But after browsing the book a few times, I have decided to try "Bündner Pizokel". That's a delicacy from the canton Graubünden. For it is a mountain region, most of their specialities are very simple, sometimes with an italian touch . But not the Pizokel, they are just hearty :o)

Was man für 2.5 Portionen benötigt:
Here's what you need for 2.5 portions:

250g Mehl                                   250g flour
250g Quark                                 250g quark
1 Stange Lauch (gewürfelt)              1 poree (chopped)
3 Eier                                         3 eggs
Salz                                            salt
Pfeffer                                         pepper

The Pizokel dough is made really quickly. You just have to mix the 3 main components poree, flour and quark (works the best by hand) and add the eggs after kneading it well. Then season it with salt and pepper. That's it with the dough.

Then the dough has to be portioned with a table spoon to dumplings and cooked in boiling salt water. The Pizokel are done, when they swim on the water surface on their own. Then they can be  removed and put in to cool water.

When all Pizokel are cooked, they can be "parked" in a bowl with some oil. The oil prevents that they stick together. In the
meanwhile I have chopped some onions and mushrooms and have roasted them gently in a pan with some oil. Afterwards I have added the Pizokel and roasted them with the mushrooms and onions until they turn slightly golden.

When everything is heated I have served it with a bit sour cream and some green onions. I have to admit, the Pizokel aren't really decorative, but they are made quickly and are tasty...

Bon Appetit...

Rumlungersocken - Linger socks...

My knitringthing linger socks are finally finished and in charge :o)
In my last post I have finished wirh the heel from there on, I had to proceed as with the leg until the full lenght of the foot was reached. Afterwards I had to wrap the sticks up to the half of the ring. Then I had to work the same way as with the heel, in each wrapping round I have used one stick less. After finishing one side, I have cut the yarn and have treated the other side the same way.

To sew the socks, I have taken a bright and good visible yarn and have string all the loops on it. Then I have removed the sock from the knitring, swopped over and have crocheted the top. Afterwards I have removed the bright yarn.
Then I have sewn all loose yarn and tadaaaa...that's it...

Naja, nicht ganz. Was war es für die erste Socke. Bei Socke zwei bin ich gleich vorgegangen.
Well, not totally. That's it for the first sock. For number two I have done everything the same way,

All in all it took about 2 to 3 hours per sock. But I wasn't working constantly on it. The great thing about the knitring is that it can be up aside without anything to happen like losing a needle.

Now the cold can come, because my feet are armed :o)
And the knitring will certainly be used for something different like arm or leg cuffs...

Strickringding - Knitringthing

Do you know the knit thing from Prym? I have seen an ad for it in a magazine and I've wanted to try it right away, because the ad said it would be easy to knit bonnets and socks. I have tried both at least once, but I have lost my patience really quick.

Thank to my supplier for everything (Amazon), I was allowed to hold the knit thing as few days later in my hand.

I have bought it in size M, so this allows you to knit socks from size 32 to 38 and also I have bought some Merino wool in 3 different shades of grey/black.

My plan: warm socks to which keep me warm while relaxing, perfect for that disguisting weather outside.

The beginning is very easy. You just have to wrap the yarn around every stick in two rounds. There it ist important to hold the yarn while wrapping because it dropps really quickly.

Afterwards a knitting round follows. There I have to say that the deliverd needel is not very helpful, so I had to switch to a crochet needle.

The start is really easy, after every warpping round a knitting round  follows and as long you keep it not to tight, you won't have any problems. In the first try I have pulled to strong and then I hardly could knit a loop without dropping the other yarn from the stick. Here the knitthing doesn't excuse any mistake.

As soon as you got the twist how it works, also the heel is realy easy. Here you proceed the same wasy as with the leg, except for not wrapping the whole round but only the half. To make a nice curve, you have to wrap with every round one stick less until there are only 4 left. Then you have to add again one stick per side while wrapping.

When the heel is finished, proceed the same way as with the leg until the lenght of the foot is reached. Well, that's how far I have got until now. The first impression of the knitthing is really great!

So bald ich besockt bin, folgt mehr... :o)
As soon as I've got socks, more will follow... :o)
