Blickfang 2012 - Design exhibition

Today, I went to the design exhibition "Blickfang", which was hosted in Basel. Some things were really, really  very stylish and special, others looked a little like from a crafting lesson at school.

But here some of my favourtites:

  • Great vintage fashion, I loved the sailor vest most:

  • Lovely, chic but minimalistic jewellery:

  • Timeless and classy couture:

  • Retro looks for young and "old":

  • And some more very chic retro inspired clothes:

Ther were soooooooo many things I'd wish to own, but I haven't bought anything today. Thank God there are online shops...

DIY spring...

Sadly spring still hasn't shown up...
So I have decided to diy my own spring! What it takes? Bright colors and lovly summerish fragrances!
Here's what I have chosen:

1. A yellow bag (raises the mood)

2. Printed flower scarf (what says more "spring" than that?)

3. Red shoes (never, ok almost never wrong)

4. Feel good shower gels (for example BodyShop )

5. Meek fragrance (I like "Deliciouse" by DKNY)

6. Multicolored jewellery (but not too much at the time)

7. Bloomy hair decoration

So, spring I am ready, but where are you?

Cupcakes, anyone...?

Tomorrow my boyfriend will come back home from a business trip and as a surprise I have prepared somd custard cupcakes...

I have chosen custard cupcakes, because they are not only delicious, but also very easy and quickly made. You just have to add all ingredients in a bowl and mix them well. Taaaadaaa... That's it!

So here's the recipe:

First of all preheat the oven to about 160 degree C

What you need is:

  • 100g custard powder
  • 200g butter (I perfere margarine)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 140g sugar
  • 100g flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

Mix everything well and dispense the dough evenly over a 12 hole cupcake tary (don't forget the muffin paper!!) and bake it for about 20 minutes...

As decoration I have decided to try a spring theme (the spring has shown up for short, but is gone again, so I have to make my own!)

Therefore I have prepared some green fondant as grass and some pink flowers. The get even round shapes for the lawn I have used a glass which has the same diameter as the cupcake itself and for the flowers I have used a cookie cutter. To fixate the flowers on the lawn I have used a sugar/water mixture as glue.

After everything is decorated you can also paint the whole cupcake with the sugar water so it gets a smooth and even shine.

So, once more I wish you a bon appetit...

All work and no play...

Pheeeeew... Those were already two busy days and more are about to come...

Working can be fun, but it is a pity that I have to cut other things like crafting and cooking (no, not just the daily bit, I mean real cooking...).
But I had a little time to browse through different blogs and I have found this lovely little diamond:

I fell in love with those great ideas and precious crafts. The whole page is a eye candy with its pastel colors and lively pictures.

I just can highly recommand it :o)

Home made wild garlic pasta...

Taaaadaaaa... Here it is...my first real post!

Today I have got some freshly collected wild garlic and I had to use it. So, I have made some wild garlic pasta. The recipe is pretty easy and can be adaptet very easy to any other ingredient.

Here's what you need:

300g flour
2 eggs
1 tea spoon salt
3 table spoons olive oil or 200g and 1 table spoon olive oil of what you like as flavor

In case you want to use the wild garlic (or basilic or herbs...) you have to boil it first for a bout a minute, than pour away the water and ass 1 table spoon olive oil. Then you have to puree the whole thing. After reaching the right texture (very smooth for a even dough or semi smooth, so you can see the leaves a bit) the puree can be added to the flour and every thing can be mixed with a kitchen machine or by hand (yeah, I'm lazy and I have used the machine...)
After mixing the dough has to rest for about an hour before it can be rolled and cut. The easiest way, is to do it with a pasta machine, so the dough can be rolled out until it is almost see through...
After cutting the pasta pieces (I prefer the tagliatella), it has to rest again for about half an hour, before it can be cooked. The cooking time is very short, about 2 minutes, but it depends on the doughs thickness.

Well, I wish you a bon appetit...
